This small elegant box "Town Of Kizhi" demonstrates Sergey Rogatov's unique, flawless style of painting. Sergey is one of the best Fedoskino Artists, whose creations are displayed almost in every book on the Russian lacquer art. Each of his work is a true work of art, museum quality.
The box shows the island of Kizhi surroundaed by lake Onega. In the center of composition is the ancient wooden church built entirely of wood. In the background the artist has drawn beautiful forest to create the depth of the composition.
Various shades of blue, grey and brown oils dominate here. In some areas the oils are mixed with silver and gold paint.
The scene is framed with a gold line. The box's sides are decorated with the stylish pattern that consists of an innumerable number of big and small spirals. The box's exterior is covered with balck lacquer, while the interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
