This beautiful vintage Russian lacquered box "The Miracle Snowmaiuden" was painted in the village of Palekh by artist Kukulieva in 1988.
Snowmaiden stands accompanied by her foster parents on the out skirts of the small village. Miniature is traditionaly painted with egg tempera paints and most of the fine detail is added with the use of gold paint that touches every feature of the scene.
The box is constructed out of high-quality papier-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box. The exterior is decorated with elegant gold ornaments. The lid isn't hingeed on top and the artwork is signed with the artist's name, the year of 1988 and the village of Palekh. The size of the composition is6 x 3.75 x 1.25"
