This very beautiful Russian lacquered box is titled “ Snowmaiden ”.
Snowmaiden or Snow princess is beloved character of a popular Russian fairy tale.This lacquered box was hand painted by artist Fyodorova O. from the town of Kholui, Russia.The miniature depicts young beautiful girl dressed in traditional winter outfit in the middle of the forest surrounded by her little friends-squirrells. Mother of pearl shines through paints and translucent layers of lacquer creating an illusion of shimmery snow and ice.
The size of the lacquered box is 5.75. x 2.2 x 1.5 in inches.
