Talented Russian artist K.Strizh is the author of this beautiful Russian lacquer box from Fedoskino village. The name of the miniature is "Winter In The Forest" and features the picturesque Russian countryside in winter.
The river running on the edge of small village near winter forest. The river is covered with shiny ice and dissapeares into horizon reflecting beautiful cloudy sky.
The scene is masterfully drawn in various shades of pink, white, gray, brown and light blue oils. Silver powder is used for highlighting and filling the painting with almost unnoticeable sparkle. Mother of pearl inlaid in papier mache creates a three dimentional stunning effect.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Green lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while dark burgundy lacquer completes its interior. The lid is hinged from the left side of the box. The size of the box is 3.6" x 3.25" x 1.25". The work is signed inside the lid with the artist's name. It would make a lovely present and a great addition to one's collection.
