Vintage Russian lacquer box "Before Battle" was hand made and hand painted in the village of Lipetsk by artist E.Stukalova in late 1980's. The minature depicts Russian knights ready to defend their motherland.
The box is made of papier mache, decorated with golden and silver ornaments around the miniature and hinged from the left side of the lid. The artwork is signed on the bottom of the lid. The size of the lacquered box is 3.9" x 3.2" x 2"
Unfortunately there are no more artists left in the village of Lipetsk who paint these beautiful boxes, so this particular style of lacquer miniature is dissapearing. That makes this box even more collectible.
