This incredibly rare and beautiful Russian lacquered box "Pushkin's Tale The Golden Cockerel" was painted by very famous artist Bykov S. from the village of Palekh. Bykov's's style is unique and easily recognizable. The size of this masterpiece is  very impressive. But what makes it rare are the five painted compartments inside the box. It's like having 6 miniatures instead of one. Bykov typically painted flat boxes, however, this one is in the style of a large chest and is painted inside out and all around on all sides with intricate golden ornaments. This is a vintage box painted in late 1990's which makes it more desirable and valuable.
