Museum quality Russian nesting doll "Pushkin Tales" is one of a kind work of art. This exquisite matryoshka was handpainted by famous and amazingly talented artist G. Yakovleva from St. Petersburg, Russia. The doll depicts different scenes from beloved Russian fairytales by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.
The tradition of storytelling goes back many centuries, but is popular in modern times too. Each doll is painted with very fine detail and lovingly decorated all over with golden flowers and ornaments. This Russian beauty is painted in Palekh style which is seen before only in lacquered boxes art. Each doll of this fefteen nest beautiful set was hand made from different wooden pieces of linden wood dried in the open air for several year. This unbelivably gorgeuous and majestic matryoshka is definitely a must for a collector of nesting dolls.
The doll is impressive12.75 inches tall.
Matrena is covered with multiple layers of smooth shiny lacquer and is signed by the artist on the bottom of the largest doll.
