This serene winter architectural scene "Evening Service" was created by very famous Russian artist G. Larishev from the village of Fedoskino in 2003.
It is getting dark. Grey sky and stormy clouds fall dramatically on the white-stoned walls of the convent, and blue and white deep snowdrifts. People walk slowly along the path that leads to the convent's entrance to have an evening prayer. People are dwarfed by the grandeur of the convent.
The edges of the lid, and the box's sides are decorated with scottish design.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition. The work is signed and dated (2003) by the artist.
The size of this beautiful Russian lacquer miniature is 5.25" x 3.25" x 1.7"
