This unique Russian lacquer box was hand painted on mother of pearl by the Russian artist Smirnova M. The lacquered box was painted and made in the village of Fedoskino, Russia. The title of this box is "Church on the Savior on Blood" and it is painted based on the famous cathedral in Russia. The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood is one of the main sights of St. Petersburg, Russia. It is also variously called the Church on Spilt Blood and the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, its official name. The name refers to the blood of Tsar Alexander II of Russia, who was assassinated on that site in 1881.The size of this Russian lacquer box is 3.75" x 3" x 1.2".
