This Russian Lacquer Box is titled "After Klimt". Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most prominent members of the Vienna Secession movement. His major works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects. Klimt's primary subject was the female body, and his works are marked by a frank eroticism. This unique lacquered box was painted in Klimt's distinct style. The box is made of papier-mache and is painted and lacquered many times. The artist also uses gold leaf in this lacquer box. Also the lid of this box is made from natural shell which adds a beautiful shine to the box. This box was made by a Russian artist from the village of Fedoskino, Russia. The size of this miniature lacquered box is 3.5" x 2.5" x 1".
