This Russian Lacquer box depicts the "Troika" and was painted by artist with initials K. T. from the village of Mstera, near Moscow, Russia. A Troika is a type of Russian carriage with a main difference being that the carriage is pulled by the three horses. This is due to the fact that these carriages pulled people through tough winter conditions for many miles and three horses were required to make it through the tough terrain.
