This splendid piece of genuine Russian artistry was composed by the talented Fedoskino artist, Anzhela Mikhalyova. She is one of Fedoskino's most prized artists. Her works are featured in all of the major literature of Fedoskino lacquer art and her pieces are displayed in museums and galleries all over the world. In this work the artist has masterfully expressed a peculiar charm of Russian countryside. Though the palette isn't too bright the scene radiates from within. This effect has been achieved with the help of mother-of-pearl inlay that shines brightly through the architecture in the right part of the composition and the water as well. The palette is also enriched by silver and gold powders used as an underlayer for the oils. The box is constructed out of paper-ache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the top of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino. The Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is the tallest Eastern Orthodox Church in the world. It is situated in Moscow, on the bank of the Moskva River, a few blocks west of the Kremlin. The size of this incredible piece is 8" x 5.5" x 2.5".
