This very unusual Russian lacquered box was painted by the artist Bakalov from the village of Palekh, Russia. The theme of this Palekh fairy tale is Snow Maiden. Snow Maiden is a Russian Spring fairytale which originated from Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov's famous opera. However, the unusual part about this box is it's unique shape. It is also painted on almost every side giving it a great value unlike most boxes which are only painted on the lid. The size of this miniature lacquer box is 2.75" x 2" x 3.25".
