This elegant Russian lacquered box is titled "The Snow Maiden" and is based on the famous Russian fairy tale. This lacquered box was painted by the Russian artist Novoseltseva A. from the village of Fedoskino. This box is painted with very gentle and elegant colors and the artist uses 24k gold leaf in the Snow Maiden's dress which adds a very beautiful shine to the box. The size of this lacquered box is 2.5" x 3" x 1" and it was painted in 2008.

The Snow Maiden

She is the daughter of Spring and Frost, who yearns for the companionship of mortal humans. She grows to like a shepherd named Lel, but her heart is unable to know love. Her mother takes pity and gives her this ability, but as soon as she falls in love, her heart warms up and she melts.
