The egg is hand painted by a Russian artist who uses gold leaf, paint, and many layers of lacquer to create this beautiful egg. Apart from this the front of the egg is also carved giving it a very unique and distinctive look. The Russian wooden egg was made in the city of Sergiev Posad, Russia in the Zagorsk region. The egg comes with a hand-made stand and the height of the egg and stand is 8.75". This is a beautiful Russian egg with a theme of Mother and Child. The egg was painted in a Palekh style which is very similar to the original iconography used on all Russian religious icons.
