This beautiful Russian Matryoshka Nesting Doll features portraits of the Rulers of Russia and is called Peter the Great. This nesting doll is hand painted and hand made in Sergiyev Posad, Moscow (Zagorsk). The Matryoshka is signed by the artist on the bottom of the first nesting doll. The Matryoshka is 10 inches tall and has a total of 10 pieces. The nesting doll is a symbol of Russian art and culture and is collectible. Each nesting doll has a different ruler painted on (Peter the Great, Tsarina Elizabeth, Catherine the Great, Tzar Paul, Tzar Alexander I, Tzar Nicholay I, Tzar Alexander II, Tzar Alexander III, Tzar Nicholay II, and the last is a Candle). Each nesting doll is painted with great detail. This Matryoshka is also lacquered creating a beautiful shiny finish and the artist uses gold leaf on each doll. This Matryoshka doll was painted by the artist, Gzeleznov S. in 1997.
