He is considered by many a master artist when it comes to Russian miniature lacquer boxes. Molodkin's style is unique and easily recognizable. The size of this piece is what makes it rare. Molodkin typically paints flat boxes, however, this one is in the style of a large chest and is painted all around on all sides. Getting another Molodkin box this size is very unlikely and this makes the box very collectible. The title of this lacquer box is "Golden Cockerel" and it is based on the famous fairy tale by Pushkin.
